First time here? Follow these 6 steps — you'll only do this once.

  1. 1

    Download the .zip

Click the purple Download button above. Save voicetype-extension.zip to your Downloads folder.

  2. 2

    Unzip the file

Double-click the .zip on Mac, or right-click → Extract All on Windows. You'll get a folder named voicetype-extension.

  3. 3

    Open the extensions page

In Chrome (or Edge, Brave, Arc, Opera), paste chrome://extensions into the address bar and press Enter.

  4. 4

    Turn on Developer mode

Flip the toggle in the top-right corner of the extensions page.

  5. 5

    Load unpacked

Click the Load unpacked button (top-left), then select the unzipped voicetype-extension folder.

  6. 6

    Allow the microphone (one time)

Click into any text field, tap the floating mic, then click Allow microphone on the tab that opens. Done — works on every site after that, including Google Docs.

💡 Tips

  • • Drag the mic button anywhere — it remembers its position.
  • • Say "comma", "period", "question mark", "new paragraph" for punctuation.
  • • Click the SpeakFlow AI icon in the toolbar to toggle grammar fixes.

🛠 Troubleshooting

  • • Mic blocked? A tab opens with an "Allow microphone" button — click it.
  • • No mic on Sheets/Excel? Click into the formula bar first.
  • • Reinstall after updates: drag-replace the folder in chrome://extensions.
